The Process

The first step in the process is to schedule an on-site visit with us. At this initial visit, we will listen to your goals and get to know you and your home.

Following our first visit with, within 24 hours, we’ll present you with our Project Planning Agreement, or what we refer to as the PPA. The PPA is a mixture of design and estimating and includes approximately 50% of the required design work for the project. The goal of the PPA is to establish a comprehensive framework for the planning of your project.  This Agreement delineates the Scope of Work, outlines the responsibilities of each party and defines the procedures for developing the project plan and the cost estimate by determining the specific project details necessary for a quality cost estimate. At the conclusion of this process, a Construction Contract and schedule will be presented.

Our first step, after the PPA is approved, will be to meet with you and discuss your goals in more depth. Next, we will accurately measure your home and generate an “as built” computer model.

Simple “As Built” Drawing

After the as built model is refined, your lead designer will generate design solutions based upon your goals. We’ll develop the design of your project with the most powerful and realistic 3d modelling available for residential design so you can visually understand how the project will look and function. We will also discuss options for fixture and material selections, so you make the right choices for you. These design options will be presented to you in an exciting virtual walk-through with the 3d model projected to a large screen TV for everyone to enjoy and comment on.

Through iterative design drafts, we’ll refine your project until it meets your goals. At this point, there are often structural challenges to be solved as our designer develops the structural solutions and generates framing and foundation plans, if necessary. We will also develop your project in a project management system, called Buildertrend, which provides a central clearinghouse for all the important information including specifications, cost estimate and schedule, all available for you to view and comment on at your convenience.

After this, we’re ready to meet with our service professionals in an exciting on-site meeting. We will distribute plans and several of our design and project management staff will lead them through the project and answer questions. Soon after, we will receive their bids, and generate your cost estimate. Within two weeks of this meeting, your cost estimate, contract, and schedule, will be ready for your execution.

We have found that this process results in a highly clear, accurate and unified project where expectations are met with excellence. We will have a clear picture of when, how and how much. You will see how the selections, process and schedule will affect the cost and what to expect in the next steps. We will always keep you in the loop with items that affect you and promise to respond and follow through as planned.

We hope this addresses your concerns and are more than happy to answer any additional questions or concerns that you may have. If we don’t know, we’ll find out and seek accurate answers that address your specific concerns. We’re ready to get started and look forward to a lasting relationship that even goes beyond the delivery of this wonderful project.
