What we’ve been up to
It's been a little while since I've posted a blog entry so, I wanted to shoot out an update on what we've been up to.
We have a couple of exciting projects that we have been designing over the last few months, that should lead to and exciting (and busy) spring and summer.
The first project is an addition to an existing house in Beaverton for a structural engineer and his family. Their existing garage is deteriorating and so they want to replace it and put a good size office for the Owner and his employee on the second floor. In addition, they want to get a workshop space, guest suite and sauna out of the deal. We've designed a very nice addition which we are expecting to break ground on in January 2016.
Anther project that we are designing is a garage that will be converted into an ADU. What's an ADU? It stands for Accessory Dwelling Unit. If you're not familiar with ADU's, it's essentially a second small house on a lot that can be used as a rental, in laws suite, guest suite, or in some cases, the Owner may live in the ADU and rent out the house! This one should prove to be super fun and challenging. The Owner has high hopes for this unit to maximize it's value (and rental income). Here's a 3d "Axon" view, with the roof and 2 walls removed so you can see what's going on
We are also in the process of a fairly major second story addition project in SE Portland (Sellwood) which is my neighborhood. More on that project later!
